Hyderabad: Mr. Rathish Sekhar, a private adviser, engaged on authorities initiatives, was offered with an invoice of Rs 9,15,887 by an Ola cab driver for a visit to Nizamabad and back the same day, on August 24.
He began from Jubilee Hills at 7.57 am, and after a two-hour break at Nizamabad, he returned in the same cab at 5.16 pm.
“Once I booked the cab the estimate shown on my cell phone was about Rs 5,000. Once I actually returned, the invoice confirmed Rs 9.15 lakh,” Mr. Sekhar mentioned.
The invoice for the 450 km round trip confirmed the gap traveled as 85,427 km, he stated.
Mr. Sekhar mentioned it could possibly be Rs 9,000. “There have been no dots between the numerals. For instance, some occasions the invoice quantity is displayed as ‘9158.87’ which might imply Rs 9,158. However even Rs 9,000 can be nearly double the estimate,” he stated.
Even cab driver Sunil Kumar was shocked and informed Mr. Sekhar that he may purchase two Indica automobiles with the quantity.
Mr. Sekhar refused to pay the invoice, and the motive force referred to as the Ola assist workers who recalculated the invoice to Rs four,812. The method took nearly half an hour. The bill, which he needed to undergo the workplace, took three days, Mr. Sekhar stated.
He stated the Ola assist staff informed him that the error was because of an issue in computer and apologized. When contacted, Ola Cabs spokesperson Soumitra Chand said they’re trying into the problem.
